Whitefish Falls

Alan's catch first day This pump really works..It is a classic

The river runs through the fish camps

We left Little Current yesterday and headed to Whitefish Falls. It was still rough , but near as bad as Saturday. We knew that if we could make it to the Waubano channel that leads to Whitefish then we would be okay. It was white knuckles  but we did and then we were behind so many different islands that we were protected.  We arrived at Whitefish and it is a very small fishing village. Fish camps line the river and most boats were under 30 feet so we really fit in here. We pulled up to the government dock and got directions from Craig at Bay Villa Lodge. He directed us to a slip , helped us dock, get power and was very gracious. Turns out his mom and dad( Don and Judy Datz) are from Michigan and bought this place a few years ago after coming to it for several years. Don actually use to come here as a kid. The fishing is great and the whole feel is rustic and looks out at the mountains. There were actually artist here renting the cabins while we are here painting. This is place we would consider coming back to next year and trailer the boat and stay in a cabin for a couple of weeks. We see alot of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and a Minnesota car tag. We stayed two nights, but will be moving on tomorrow to someplace new. I don't know exactly where yet, but in the NOrth Channel of Lake Huron.
