Today was a BIG day for us. We left lock 42 and continued on the Trent River to Georgian Bay. There were several very narrow cuts that we had to go through and the BIGGEST thrill was lock 43 called the "Big Chute". This was totally awesome as you are loaded on a railway lift that takes you out of the water completely and over a hill and back down in the water on the other side. This has got to be the highlight of our trip so far as far as locks go. After the thrill ride was over we headed on up to Port Severn lock which is the last lock before Georgian Bay. As we are about to go into the lock Roland and Helene blow their horn and we see them at the marina by the lock. We stopped to catch up with them and then locked in with them. THey were headed for Honey Harbor and we were headed for Midland for provisions and phone calls. They will be coming to Midland tomorrow. We are planning to leave Midland and start exploring the National park islands in Georgian Bay and anchoring .
It's a great write up that you are doing of your trip. I'm the editor of Georgian Bay Today. A quarterly newspaper that serves recreationists on the Bay. It would be great to have you contribute some of your writing about the upcoming Georgian Bay leg of your trip to the paper. Let me know what you think.

Hi, Linda and Alan! We're in Belleville, ON, having some canvas work done on the boat. We'll be following your blog to see what you find in the Georgian Bay...
We have been planning our retirement adventure for sometime which was to complete the Great Loop. We bought 121 acres in northwest Florida in July 2002 after Alan had been misdiagnosed with Lymphoma . Our plan was that in 5 years we would move here and it would be our home. In 2007 we sold our home, then in October 2007 we sold the business. We bought our boat "Simplicity" after we sold our house. We made our permanent move to Chipley and have loved every minute of it. We love being around nature, trees and the feel that you are out in the middle of the woods away from civilization , yet we are only 2 miles from town. We built a barn style home and we live totally off grid. In 2011 along with our sons Zack and Adam we started our honey production. Alan has been messing with bees since he was seventeen. It has become a family affair with our grandchildren Dom and Astrid helping along with Linda's mom Nita and Zack’s wife Beatriz with the honey harvest. We hope you enjoy our Wildflower and Tupelo honey:)
